ETHICS COMPLAINT FILED AGAINST GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE BETH HARWELL

Nashville, TN — Today, Tennessee Republican Assembly (TRA) President Sharon Ford filed a third ethics complaint with the Tennessee Registry of Election Finance against gubernatorial candidate Beth Harwell. The complaint states that Speaker Harwell continues to use her PAC, HARWELL PAC (now doing business as "Tennesseans for Good State Government") in an illegally coordinated manner to support her campaign for governor. TRA expects candidates to adhere to standards of legality by everyone running for office, particularly when they are seeking the highest office in the state.

Ford stated “TRA finds it particularly perplexing that Speaker Harwell who is positioning herself as a reform candidate would be guilty of such egregious infractions given the fact she has continuously been a candidate for public office since 1988.”

TRA sincerely hopes the Registry of Elections Finance will review these complaints with the seriousness they warrant.
